3. Maurice Goldfoot b: July 1, 1908 Portland, Oregon, d: July 1967 Portland, Oregon. He was living in Ontario, Oregon but was flown into the hospital in Portland. This was my father.

Hyman Goldfuss was born in 1880 in Lodz, Russia and at the age of 29 left Southhampton, England and arrived in New York on October 28, 1909. He spoke Hebrew and was a watchmaker.

Chaim Goldfuss was born abt 1889 in Smelton, Russia. He left Liverpool, England and on August 17, 1907 he arrived in New York at age 18. He spoke Hebrew and was listed as a female, but with this name this had to be an error. Also, he was listed as a servant. His father was Jankel Goldfuss and his address was Systten Leflane, Pub-Russia. He was going to Bayonne and was aboard the Lucania.

Also listed was Henr Goldfuss born 1889 in Smelton, Russia and his father was also listed as Jankel Goldfuss with the same address. He was also 18 years old. He got to New York on the Celtic on the same date.

David Goldfuss b: 1885 in Russia, was on the 15 January 1920 census in Brooklyn, Assembly District 2, Kings, New York at age 35. Grover was his wife age 25 also born in Russia. Living with them was his father Essie age 45 and his mother May age 40. His children were Paul, age 3 and 4 months, and probably his siblings Barnie age 20, Bertha age 18, and Eva age 14. All the people were born in Russia and spoke Yiddish. David was a manufacturer of ladies' hats.

Sam Goldfuss b: 1865 in Russia was found on the 1891 English census in Manchester, Lancashire, England at age 26. He was a tailor living as a lodger with Solomon Lipshitz and his family.

On the April 20, 1910 US Federal census Alex Goldfuss age 32 b: 1878 was found in Jersey City, Ward 2, Hudson, New York. He immigrated in 1892 from Russia. His wife was Ever age 32 born in Germany. They had been married for 12 years and spoke Yiddish. Their children were Leon age 11 and Mariam age 8. Alex was in retail jewelry.

Apram Goldfuss was found on the 22 April 1910 US Federal census in Manhattan, Ward 12, New York. He was born in 1873 in Russia and had been married for 10 years to Martha b: 1878. They spoke Russian and Yiddish. Their children were Israel b: 1901 and Sophia b: 1903 and Tony b: 1906. It looked like he worked for Human Hair works.

On 28 May 1906 Joseph Goldfoot, a 15 year old boy arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by himself on the SS Haverford which left on the 17th of May 1906 from Queenstown, Ireland. Joseph listed Dublin as his last residence. He was born in Russia and was headed for an uncle, Joseph Anderson in Trenton, New Jersey. He was listed as Hebrew. Many Jewish people from Russia went through Ireland to get to the United States.

Herman Goldfuss born in Russia was in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on the 22 April 1910 US Federal census at age 41. He was a proprietor of a clothing store. His wife was Rose age 35, was also born in Russia. The children were Gail age 13, Ethel age 10, Joseph age 7, Walter age 2, and Irene 10 months. The children were all born in Illinois, and Herman's NA was 1886. They spoke Yiddish.

The 4 June 1900 census of Redwood Falls, Redwood, Minnesota shows Joseph Goldfuss b: December 1863 in Russia who had been married for 9 years but was living as a boarder at age 37. Also in the same boarding house was Henry goldfuss age 28 also born in Russia who was probably his brother and had been born in July 1871. He was single. they worked in clothing.

On the 6 January 1920 US Federal census was Joseph Goldfus b: 1868 in Russia at age 52. His wife was Ethel. they were in Baltimore, Ward 5, Maryland. They arrived in 1902. Joseph was NA in 1914. Ethel was 50 years old. With them was their son, Abraham, age 24. They were all born in Russia and spoke Hebrew. Joseph was a tinner with his own shop. Abraham was a musician in an orchestra. They lived on Gary Street in a rented house.


On the 3 April 1930 US Federal census was Joseph Goldfuss age 60 b: 1870 in Nowmop, Russia and spoke Yiddish. He and his wife, Yettle were both 60 years old and were born in the same place as were their parents. They immigrated in 1905, probably the same year as my grandfather, Nathan Goldfoot. Joseph was a tinner and contractor. They were found living in Baltimore, Maryland, where there were no farms in the neighborhood. It has been very rare to find the name of the city and country such as this showed. Now I have to find where Nowmop was.

On the 18 April 1930 Federal US census we find his son, Abraham Goldfuss age 34, as a musician in a hotel living in Atlantic City, 1st Ward, New Jersey. He was born in 1896 in Russia. He was married to Henrietta age 34 who immigrated in 1923 from Germany. Her father was born in England but she had a German mother. They lived in a Jewish neighborhood and paid $70 for rent. It looked like they were living on Oriental Avenue.

On a tree were found the following: Carrie Goldfoot, Chester D. Goldfoot, Howard Goldfoot, Dorothy F. Goldfoot, David C. Goldfoot and Laura Goldfoot. There could be a common ancestor from this group who were found in Schenectady, New York with the Russian Goldfoots as far back as the 10th century in Prussia, possibly.

Florence Goldfus was found on the 1930 US federal census. She was born about 1905 and was residing in Los Angeles, California.

On the 1930 US federal census was Joseph Goldfus and his wife, Jenny. Joseph was born abt 1877 and was residing in Cook County, Illinois.
Also on the same 1930 census was Bertha Goldfus b: abt 1871 residing in Cook County, Illinois.

On the 1920 US federal census was Albert C. Goldfus b: abt 1892. He was residing in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Research by Denise.

Hyman Goldfuss was an uncle to Jessie, Simon, and Barnett Goldfoot who all seem to have been born in England and not in the Ukraine, which means that Hyman immigrated as early as Isaac, if not earlier. Research by Denise.

Nathan Goldfoot, my grandfather who finally resided in Portland, Oregon, and Isaac and Hyman, ancestors of Denise's, all seemed to connect to Ireland via Londonderry Port. Research by Denise.

Isaac Goldfoot, who settled in England and Dublin between 1860-1870 was probably a brother of cousin of Grandfather Hyman Goldfuss. Research from Denise Bremridge

Hyman departed from Hamburg, Germany directly to New York. He and his wife re-directed to Dublin where they must have had family already settled there and in England, too. This was research by Denise "Goldfoot" Bremridge. She also found on the 1900 US Federal census Hyman Goldfus b: abt 1894 living in Hennepin, Minnesota.

The results are back for the 25 mark DNA test for two Goldfoot males. Though their ancestors were from Lithuania, there were 3 markers that were not the same out of the 25, making a recent connection not likely. They were probably connected in the 13th or 14th century somehow. Countries with an exact match were Austria-Hungary, Poland, Prussia and the Ukraine.
